La Val Rosandra è un'interessante location naturale situata pochi km fuori Trieste nel Comune di Dolina.
Si tratta di un canyon scavato dal torrente Rosandra nel quale è possibile osservare il susseguirsi continuo di fenomeni carsici. Ghiaioni, pareti a strapiombo, cascate e forre si susseguono lungo i sentieri che è possibile percorrere su entrambi i lati della valle. Il vecchio percorso della linea ferroviarai Trieste-Erpelle è ora stato riconvertito in pista ciclo/pedonale, pertanto dal centro di Trieste è possibile arrivare sino in localita' Draga S. Elia e prosegure poi eventualmente anche in territorio sloveno attraversando la Valle. Dall'altro lato invece si snoda un sentiero dal quale è possibile, deviando il percorso, salire su un ciglione in cui vi e' una piccola chiesetta detta di S. Maria in Siaris. Seguendo il percorso invece si giunge ad un piccolo villaggio chiamato Botazzo a ridosso del confine con la Slovenia. All'inizio della valle in località Bagnoli si trova il Rifugio Premuda, il più basso d'Italia, in cui è possibile dissetarsi e rifocillarsi. La Val Rosandra è una palestra naturale per gli amanti dell'alpinismo e vi sono presenti numerosi anfratti e cavità carsiche per gli amanti della speleologia. Sono presenti inoltre i resti di un antico acquedotto romano e molto suggestiva è la cascata sotto la quale nei mesi estivi non è raro trovare numerosi escursionisti che si tuffano nelle gelide acque del torrente. Per gli amanti della natura e del trekking è una magnifica occasione per passare una splendida giornata in un paesaggio pittoresco.
This is a canyon carved by the river Rosandra where you can observe the continuous succession of karst phenomena. Scree, sheer cliffs, waterfalls and gorges follow each other along the paths that you can go on both sides of the valley. The old route of the railway line between Trieste and Erpelle has now been converted into a cycle track / footpath, therefore the heart of Trieste, you can get up in the locality 'Draga S. Elijah and continue if necessary on the Slovenian territory across the Valley. On the other side, leads a path from which it is possible, diverting the path, climbing a ridge where there is a small church called St. Mary Siaris. Following the path leads instead to a small village called Botazzo on the border with Slovenia. At the beginning of the valley there is the Rifugio Premuda, the lowest in Italy, where you can drink and snack. Val Rosandra is a natural ground for hikers and there are numerous caves and karst cavities for lovers of caving. There are also the remains of an ancient Roman aqueduct and is very scenic waterfall beneath which the summer months is not uncommon to find many hikers that plunge into the icy waters of the stream. For nature lovers and hiking is a wonderful opportunity to spend a beautiful day in a picturesque landscape.
